My name is Cara Johnson, and I am living in Morgantown, West Virginia.  I have lived there for about a year, and I find the pace different from the areas around Tidewater Virginia, where I grew up.  I enjoy going to the many festivals in the area with my fiancé Felix, and we also like going to the county fairs. Our favorite fair is the Buckwheat Festival, because it is one of the largest, and we love getting our fill of buckwheat cakes.

I attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia for five years.  I was enrolled in the dual BA/MT program, and I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and a Master of Teaching degree in Elementary Education. After graduating from UVA, I taught for one year at the American Pacific International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.   This was a challenging position, teaching 12 native Thai speakers to speak English, in addition to teaching them the core subjects of science, social studies, math, and language arts. I had a wonderful year in the hospitable country of Thailand, and I look forward to the opportunity to return to what is known as the Land of Smiles. I am presently beginning my Master’s program in the Technology Education department of West Virginia University.

I have prepared an electronic portfolio of lessons and activities that integrate technology in an interactive way into everyday lessons to be used in the classroom.  These lessons have been developed to supplement coursework for a summer program for students in 3rd-5th grades about the fine arts. This e-portfolio contains documents created for  TE600 Development of Instructional Materials, a Summer Session course at WVU. This course was instructed by Dr. Sharon Teabo.
